The Irish took the field hoping to secure first place against a salty Potomac Athletic Club side. Kick Off commenced at 2pm with an overcast sky above.
The opening kick off led to scrum. Looseplay followed as did a series of lineouts. PAC won their own throw at the Irish 5 meter and mauled in a try. PAC converted the kick. Sev caught the ensuing kick off and passed into the backline. Hansen finds the ball and leads the attack with a nice run. Hansen passes to Mann who rumbles in for a try. Hansen converts. The Irish drop the ensuing kick off which leads to a scrum. Dosi steals the ball and passes to Hansen to clear. The sides trade attacks penalties. PAC finds itself at the Irish 5 meter with a lineout again and maul, they pass it out wide and the PAC 10 runs in a try in the far corner. PAC Converts. The kick off and loose play follow, shortly there after the PAC #8 makes a break and scores in the far corner. The Irish answer back quickly with a Forward driven try. It was impossible to see who scored under the mass of humanity. Irish miss conversion. Off of the kick off the Irish attack and test the line a series of line outs are traded. With the theme of the day repeating itself. PAC line out at the Irish 5 meter. PAC mauls in a try. The Half time whistle blows.
The second half starts. J Brandenburg starts things off with a big hit off of the kick off. This leads to a stolen ball for the Irish. The Irish hammer and spin it out, but PAC steals and kicks to clear. Irish and PAC trade scrums intermixed with loose play. A series of penalites follow for both sides. PAC kicks to the Irish 10 meter and attacks off of the lineout. Irish back 10. PAC breaks the line to score. PAC converts. Irish attack off of the kick off, PAC back 10. Irish continue to attack led by power running by Nate Mann. Irish continue to advance. The Irish backs break the line and JB makes a nice run to score. Irish convert the try. Irish fired up continue to attack as full time advances. The Irish lose the ball and PAC kicks to clear. Full Time.
Irish lose 19 to 31.
Irish finish 3rd overall in MARFU South and will advance to the playoffs in the Spring. For the Irish, the playoffs will be won in the offseason through hard work and dedication.
Killer B's - The B's came out hoping to right the ship. Big Prop Joe scored a nice rumble stumble try followed by a Moriarty conversion. Jamal sprung a 70 meter try to Pittsburgh Tim and finished by Mark, who had a great game overall. It was an evenly matched game. The two teams tied as time expired. Overall it was a solid year for the B's. A lot of these guys will be gunning for A Side time in the Spring.
